Accommodation
Sydney:
We do not have accommodation catered for or booked for most of the week’s activities, and recommend that participants organize their own accommodation for the Sydney events through a travel agent or themselves.
As a guide to location:
The first event will be at Zetland in the inner-southern suburbs, between the airport and the city, with easy access off South Dowling St – which is the natural connecting route between the M5 and the M2 (Harbour Tunnel/Bridge).
The two driving tours, on Monday and Thursday, will depart from Penrith in the outer-West. Access is mainly from the M4 or along The Northern Rd and Cranebrook Rd from Windsor/Richmond.
The movie night will be at Mona Vale, which due to Sydney traffic would not be easy to reach in peak traffic. We suggest that you get there early and perhaps spend the day at the beach (weather permitting). Access to Mona Vale is easiest from the M2 along Ryde Rd then Mona Vale Rd.
Friday night’s dinner is being held in Five Dock in the inner-West. Access is easiest from the West along the M4 then Parramatta Rd then turn left into William St.
For interstate and overseas visitors I would suggest accommodation close to any of the motorway, and probably to the north or north-west of the city, for easiest access to most events.
Access to Zetland will be on a Sunday morning, so hopefully will not involve too much traffic. Access to Penrith would be for the most part against morning peak traffic.
The motorway network around Sydney will provide the easiest access to all venues.
Visitors from Melbourne or Brisbane who already have an electronic toll device for those cities’ motorways (E-tag or similar) should take note that their tags WILL work on the Sydney network.
For other visitors, please note that most Sydney motorways are tollways, and cash booths are not on most routes. The best method for payment is with an e-pass. See here for details.
Wakefield Park:
I have booked out the Pelican Sheep Station farm stay venue, which is located about 500m from the gate of Wakefield Park, for the Saturday and Sunday nights.
There is a variety of accommodation options, but most would suit groups or families.
The four cabins have now been booked out. The bunkhouse is ideal for larger groups, such as clubs, and includes two rooms with one single bed and four bunk beds (5 people), six rooms with four bunk beds (4 people) and one room with 2 bunk beds (2 people) (booked out). There is a common eating area, with amenities in an adjoining building. Bunkhouse accommodation rates are $50 per room per night, so can be as little as $10 per person per night. Linen can be supplied at an additional $5 per person per night.
There is also limited space for camping, for a maximum of 40 people, at $10 per person per night.

A community fireplace is available, excepting on days of Total Fire Ban, and Goulburn is only 10 km away if people want to drive into town to eat.
For people wanting motel, hotel or conventional caravan park accommodation, there is a wide selection in Goulburn, but you are recommended to book early.
